Nel 1258 le beguine ottennero dal vescovo di Cambrai il permesso di costruire una cappella e nel 1259 di fondare una propria parrocchia. Circa 1261-1267 donazione da parte della duchessa di Brabant Aleydis di Borgogna di una "vecchia sala di una casa per erigere una chiesa o cappella", presumibilmente nello stesso luogo dell'attuale chiesa.
