Description

In 1258, the beguines received permission from the Bishop of Cambrai to build a chapel, and in 1259 to establish their own parish. Around 1261-1267, a donation was made by the Duchess of Brabant, Aleydis of Burgundy, of an "old hall of a house to build a church or chapel," presumably at the same location as the current church.
