Il castello attuale ha avuto un predecessore, descritto nel 1476 come una casa circondata da un fossato con una corte affittata. A questo edificio più vecchio ricorda ancora un angolo di muro gotico in pietra di marna.
Nel 1617 il castello e il feudo furono venduti da Ernest Van der Mark-Arenberg a Jan-Willem van Scharenberg. Questi fece costruire l'attuale castello. Nel 1688 tutto questo fu venduto a Pierre-Louis de Sluse de Bihain, poiché il barone Van Scharenberg era gravato dai debiti. Nel 1763 seguì una ristrutturazione in stile neoclassico da parte di Jean Ferdinand de Sluse. La più antica immagine conosciuta del castello fu realizzata nel 1740 da Remacle Leloup.
