Det nuværende slot har haft en forgænger, der i 1476 blev beskrevet som et omgribende hus med bøndergård. En gotisk, mergelstenmuremindelse minder stadig om denne ældre bygning.
I 1617 blev slottet og godset solgt af Ernest Van der Mark-Arenberg til Jan-Willem van Scharenberg. Denne lod det nuværende slot bygge. I 1688 blev det hele solgt til Pierre-Louis de Sluse de Bihain, da baron Van Scharenberg var belastet med gæld. I 1763 fulgte en ombygning i klassicistisk stil af Jean Ferdinand de Sluse. Det ældste kendte billede af slottet blev fremstillet i 1740 af Remacle Leloup.
