La stazione di Aalst fu inaugurata il 9 giugno 1853 nella città di Aalst in Fiandra Orientale dalla società Dender e Waas sulla linea ferroviaria 57. Il 7 aprile 1855 divenne una stazione ferroviaria sulla linea 50. Il 1 giugno 1876 Aalst fu collegata tramite la linea 82 a Zottegem attraverso Burst. Questa linea fu in seguito prolungata fino a Ronse. Il 12 ottobre 1879 si seguì il collegamento verso Anversa tramite la linea 61.
