L'abbazia, costruita nell'undicesimo secolo e distrutta durante la rivoluzione, è stata aggiornata grazie a recenti scavi archeologici. Negli edifici conventuali, che risalgono principalmente al diciottesimo secolo, si trovano ora il Musée Guillaume Apollinaire, dedicato al poeta francese che soggiornò a Stavelot, il museo del principato di Stavelot-Malmedy e il museo del circuito di Spa-Francorchamps, che racconta la storia del circuito più bello del mondo e ospita un'eccezionale collezione di veicoli.
