De abdij, gebouwd in de 11de eeuw en verwoest tijdens de revolutie, werd door recente archeologische opgravingen bijgewerkt. In de conventionele gebouwen, die hoofdzakelijk uit de 18de eeuw stammen, bevinden zich nu het Musée Guillaume Apollinaire, gewijd aan de Franse dichter die in Stavelot verbleef, het museum van het prinsdom van Stavelot-Malmedy, en het museum van het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps, dat het verhaal vertelt van het mooiste circuit ter wereld en een uitzonderlijke verzameling voertuigen herbergt.
