La Lakenhal di Herentals è una classica lakenhal medievale. La torre associata era un belforte. Oggi contiene un carillon con 49 campane. È uno dei 56 belforti in Belgio e Francia dichiarati patrimonio dell'umanità dall'UNESCO. Prima del 1430 l'edificio è menzionato come gulden huys, 'meethuys e loter-huis. In quell'anno prese il nome di 'municipio'. Nel quindicesimo secolo fu ricostruito dai tessitori di tela e lanaioli come lakenhal. In antichi documenti, antecedenti al 1430, l'edificio è menzionato come 'municipio'.
