Sotto il viadotto di Vilvoorde sono stati ritrovati alcuni arsenali rubati su indicazione di Madani Bouhouche. Questi erano stati sottratti durante un notevole furto d'armi avvenuto nella notte tra il 31 dicembre 1981 e il 1 gennaio 1982. Nonostante una sorveglianza adeguata, degli sconosciuti sono riusciti ad irrompere nella allora caserma del Gruppo Dyane a Etterbeek e hanno potuto rubare un certo numero di sofisticate armi antiterrorismo con munizioni correlate. Non è mai stato chiaro se la Banda di Nijvel sia entrata in possesso di alcune delle armi rubate e le abbia utilizzate durante le sue rapine nei supermercati.
