Il Ponte Batavia è il primo di tre nuovi ponti per ciclisti e pedoni che collegheranno il futuro quartiere degli Oude Dokken con il centro città. I residenti del quartiere hanno utilizzato il ponte nell'estate del 2012. Questo è stato il primo grande lavoro infrastrutturale negli Oude Dokken.
Il ponte è un progetto dell'agenzia parigina Feichtinger Architects. È composto da una parte fissa e una mobile. La parte fissa si trova lato Koopvaardijlaan. La parte mobile è un capolavoro tecnologico: al centro della via navigabile il ponte può essere sollevato in modo che le navi possano passare sotto. Anche quando il ponte è in movimento, pedoni e ciclisti possono ancora attraversarlo. In questo modo, il collegamento con il centro città è sempre mantenuto. Il movimento è sempre annunciato con una luce lampeggiante e un segnale acustico.
