Cimitero realizzato per la sepoltura dei pazienti deceduti dell'ospedale psichiatrico di Rekem, che si trovava proprio di fronte ed è attualmente conosciuto come il campus del Centro di Cura Psichiatrica Pubblico di Rekem (in funzione dal 1974). Il cimitero si trova anche al confine con il Parco Nazionale Hoge Kempen, in una foresta di conifere.
