La felce aquilina è la felce più grande del Flanders. Molti la considerano un'erbaccia perché può ostacolare il rinnovamento di una foresta. Le sue grandi foglie assorbono molta luce dal sottobosco, rendendo più difficile la germinazione degli alberi giovani. L'origine del suo nome può essere scoperta con un po' di fantasia: immagina le foglie delle felci come le ali spiegate di un'aquila. E naturalmente, l'aquila è la più grande tra gli uccelli, proprio come la felce aquilina è la più grande tra le felci!
