Benvenuti nei boschi di Sixtus. I boschi di Sixtus comprendono diverse foreste nel territorio di Poperinge e Vleteren: le singole aree Theetbos (15 ettari), Couthofbos e -parco (70 ettari), la Lovie (28 ettari), boschi canadese (16 ettari), Bardelenbos (32 ettari), Dozinghembos (38 ettari) e la foresta presso l'abbazia di Sint-Sixtus (19 ettari) formano insieme un cluster boschivo di 220 ettari.
Dal 1990, l'Agenzia per la Natura e le Foreste acquista terreni per far rinascere i boschi di Sixtus. Attualmente, l'ANB gestisce circa 91 ettari. Non si tratta di un'area boschiva continua, ma di un patchwork di decine di piccoli appezzamenti che sono collegati tra loro. A fini di sviluppo paesaggistico e naturale, non tutte le terre vengono riforestate: c'è anche spazio per 2,5 ettari di frutteto e di giovani alberi, e per circa quattro ettari di prato.
