Il complesso Heverleebos-Meerdaalwoud si estende a sud di Lovanio da Heverlee fino al confine con il Brabante Vallone. Questo grande complesso boschivo era in passato di proprietà dei duchi di Arenberg, dopo la Prima Guerra Mondiale questi beni furono dichiarati di proprietà dello Stato e requisiti. Di conseguenza, queste vaste aree boschive entrarono in possesso dello Stato belga. Il bosco si collega al Castello di Arenberg a Heverlee. Sono stati registrati reperti archeologici risalenti al neolitico e al periodo romano. È un'area forestale "permanente" di oltre 3000 ha con una grande diversità di fauna e flora.
