Il luogo di pellegrinaggio e la cappella di Nostra Signora di Kerselare sono testimoni della secolare devozione mariana nella regione, risalente al XV secolo. La fama della cappella e della statuetta mariana è dovuta ai numerosi miracoli registrati a partire dal XV secolo. La cappella del XVI secolo, costruita dai signori di Pamele, fu sostituita dopo l'incendio del 1961 da una nuova cappella in cemento progettata dall'architetto Julian Lampens. L'attuale cappella conserva ancora la statuetta miracolosa di Nostra Signora di Kerselare, una statuetta policromata di stile tardo-gotico risalente alla prima metà del XV secolo, proveniente dalla corporazione di San Luca di Mechelen.
