Riserva naturale Abeekvallei La valle dell'Abeek si estende tra l'Heide di Donderslag e il fiume Mosa. Insieme ai suoi affluenti, l'Abeek ha trasformato la regione di Meeuwen-Gruitrode in un'area lievemente ondulata. La vera e propria riserva naturale copre 90 ettari e si trova nella parte superiore della valle che si estende per 16 chilometri. Gli habitat più umidi sono le zone umide di canne, le brughiere di ontano, gli stagni e i prati umidi ricchi di fiori. Sulle pendenze secche della valle si possono notare le brughiere, i prati aridi, le torbiere e le dune mobili.
