Da un censimento agricolo risulta che nel 1910 c'erano più di 10.000 mulini per cani nel nostro paese. Quasi ogni grande fattoria ne aveva uno. Ora ne restano una ventina in tutta il Belgio, di cui nel Pajottenland ce ne sono ancora almeno 6, tra cui alla Pedemolen a Dilbeek, a Romont a Bever, in Lindestraat a Herne, in Gaubergstraat a Vollezele, questo esemplare restaurato e classificato in Woestijnstraat nei pressi della Cappella Woestijn a Gooik e un altro esemplare a Gooik, ossia nel Warandehof.
