Il Canale Alberto collega il porto di Anversa con Liegi, passando per città come Herentals, Geel, Hasselt e Genk. Così è anche una via di collegamento tra il fiume Schelda e il fiume Mosa e svolge un ruolo importante per la navigazione interna e per la nostra acqua potabile. Quest'ultima è molto visibile nella produzione di acqua potabile di water-link a Oelegem.
