Più di 100 artificieri hanno perso la vita dalla Seconda Guerra Mondiale. L'ultimo è stato il tenente DOVO Johan Bosmans del quartiere Meerdaal di Oud-Heverlee, morto in un incidente nell'agosto 2012.
A Stavelot si trova il 'Monumento degli Artificieri'.
Il monumento è stato eretto all'inizio degli anni '50 a STAVELOT in onore degli artificieri caduti nel loro lavoro. Anche un membro della famiglia reale era presente all'inaugurazione del monumento. Le targhe di rame sul retro del monumento contengono tutti i nomi degli artificieri caduti fino ad oggi. Il cognome è stato aggiunto nel 2012.
