Dal cimitero arriviamo nella valle del Koude Beek. “Borsbeek conta quattro corsi d'acqua: il Grensscheidingsbeek, Fortloop, Koude Beek e Diepenbeek o Bursebeek”, racconta Piet. “Il Koude Beek è il più grande e ha origine a Hove vicino al castello Fruithof, scorrendo attraverso Boechout, Mortsel e Borsbeek. Forma il confine con Wommelgem per sfociare a Deurne nel Groot Schijn. Negli anni '90 il torrente causò allagamenti dopo forti piogge. Per questo la provincia ha realizzato, nell'ambito di una riqualificazione ecologica, due aree di allagamento: alla confluenza del Diepenbeek e del Koude Beek e al Fortloop. Da un torrente dritto è stata trasformata in un torrente sinuoso. All'altezza della scuola municipale d'arte Academia e presso il Forte di Borsbeek, sono stati aperti 450 metri di corsa d'acqua imbutita.”
Sulla evoluzione di quest'area naturale il poeta Marc Tritsmans ha scritto cinque poesie che formano il ciclo ‘Watermuziek’. Ogni poesia ha trovato posto su un pannello in acciaio resistente alle intemperie. In qualità di funzionario ambientale di Borsbeek, è stato strettamente coinvolto nella rivalutazione della valle del Koude Beek.
