La regione del Piccolo e Grande Nete si trova nelle Colline di Anversa e forma un unico paesaggio fluviale di pianura. Umido con altre parole. L'area è spesso indicata come il bacino del Nete e comprende il bacino idrografico dei due fiumi, che si incontrano a Lier e scorrono ulteriormente come il Beneden-Nete verso il Rupel.
Qui trovi un evidente andamento meandrante dei fiumi e un bassissimo dislivello, il che rende possibile trovare molta natura umida, prati umidi, boschi, laghetti e duna terrestri. Aree naturali uniche come gli Steenbeemden lungo il Piccolo Nete combinano valli umide con dune fluviali secche e offrono un rifugio a piante e animali rari.
Il Grande Nete è anche chiamato la “Loira delle Colline” a causa dei numerosi castelli lungo le sue rive.
La regione è amata da escursionisti e ciclisti, con numerosi sentieri lungo i fiumi, i castelli e attraverso la natura preziosa.
