Güstrow [ˈgʏstroː] è la settima città più grande del Meclemburgo-Pomerania anteriore, con circa 30.000 abitanti, e capoluogo del distretto di Rostock. La città è sede dell'ufficio di Güstrow-Land, al quale appartengono 14 comuni, ma è esente dall'ufficio. È uno dei 18 centri medi della sua regione e dal 2006 porta ufficialmente il soprannome di "Barlachstadt" in onore dello scultore Ernst Barlach.
Güstrow è conosciuta come città residenziale storica per il suo castello, il suo centro storico ben conservato con molti edifici preziosi e la sua cattedrale con il "Sospeso" di Barlach. La scuola cattedrale di Güstrow, fondata nel 1236, è una delle più antiche scuole del mondo di lingua tedesca e dal 1991 la città è anche sede della Fachhochschule per la pubblica amministrazione, la polizia e l'amministrazione della giustizia del Meclemburgo-Pomerania anteriore.
