Güstrow [ˈgʏstroː] is met ongeveer 30.000 inwoners de zevende grootste stad van Mecklenburg-Voor-Pommeren en de hoofdplaats van de Landkreis Rostock. De stad is de zetel van het Amt Güstrow-Land, waartoe 14 gemeenten behoren, maar is zelf een ambtvrije stad. Het is een van de 18 middelcentra van het land en voert sinds 2006 officieel de naam "Barlachstad" ter ere van de beeldhouwer Ernst Barlach.
Güstrow is als historische residentiestad bekend om zijn kasteel, zijn goed bewaarde oude stad met veel waardevolle gebouwen en zijn kathedraal met de "Zwevende" van Barlach. De in 1236 opgerichte Domschool Güstrow is een van de oudste scholen in het Duitstalige gebied, en sinds 1991 is de stad bovendien de zetel van de hogeschool voor openbare administratie, politie en rechtspraak van het land Mecklenburg-Voor-Pommeren.
