Donauwörth è un comune tedesco di 18 972 abitanti, situato nel land della Baviera. È il capoluogo del circondario del Danubio-Ries.
La città fu fondata col nome di Ried nel 500, costituita da un semplice villaggio. Il primo ponte sul Danubio risale all'anno 955, il municipio fu eretto nell'anno 1236 ed il borgo ottenne lo status di città nel 1301. Già città libera del Sacro Romano Impero, fu la sede di uno degli incidenti che portarono alla Guerra dei trent'anni . Il 2 luglio 1704 fu il teatro della Battaglia di Schellenberg , durante la Guerra di successione spagnola .
