Nel 1972 fu eretta una torre di controllo a Boizenburg. Qui la polizia controllava le persone che volevano entrare nella zona di interdizione larga 500 metri. Dopo la caduta del muro nel 1989, Harry Strelow trasformò l'edificio di controllo in un ristorante e una gastronomia.
