La stazione di Alsfeld è una stazione di passaggio al chilometro 60,3 della Vogelsbergbahn e 0,0 della linea ferroviaria chiusa nel 1988 Niederaula–Alsfeld. L'edificio della stazione, costruito nel 1914/15 in Bahnhofstraße 14, è un monumento protetto.
Nel 1868, la Seconda Camera del Granducato d'Assia decise la costruzione della "Ferrovia dell'Alta Assia" da Giessen attraverso Alsfeld fino a Fulda. L'apertura ufficiale della stazione avvenne con l'apertura del tronco Grünberg–Alsfeld il 29 luglio 1870. Fino al 30 ottobre dello stesso anno, la stazione era il capolinea dei treni da Giessen, quando venne aperto il successivo tratto per Lauterbach. Il 31 luglio 1871, la Vogelsbergbahn fu completata, rendendo ora raggiungibili senza cambio le principali città di Giessen e Fulda in treno.
