L'azienda di stato VEB Traktorenwerk Schönebeck, dal 1984 al 1990 VEB Traktoren- und Dieselmotorenwerk Schönebeck, è stata l'unico produttore di trattori nella DDR a partire dalla metà degli anni '60.
L'area dello stabilimento si trovava all'estremità orientale della città di Schönebeck e si estendeva a nord fino alla Röthe, un'area forestale fluviale lungo il fiume Elba. Per accogliere il personale aggiuntivo necessario, negli anni '60 è stata costruita una colonia di fabbrica alla periferia sud di Schönebeck, circa un chilometro a ovest dello stabilimento, e negli anni '80 è stata realizzata una colonia di edifici prefabbricati.
