La villa Harkotten di Korff fu costruita nel 1806 su incarico degli sposi Friedrich-Anton e Rosine Frhr. e Frfr. von Korff a Harkotten in stile neoclassico dall'architetto Adolf von Vagedes (1777 – 1842).
Con la suggestiva decorazione delle pareti interne dell'intero pian terreno della villa, fu incaricato il pittore di corte di Rietberg Philipp Ferdinand Ludwig Bartscher (1749 – 1823) negli anni 1814 – 1816.
Grazie ai numerosi ritrovamenti di affreschi coevi alla costruzione e all'importanza regionale dell'artista di Rietberg, l'arredamento interno dell'edificio storico è meritevole di essere conservato e di interesse pubblico. Il HerrHarkotten è stato riconosciuto nel 2017 come monumento di importanza nazionale.
