L'impianto della Siemens AG a Braunschweig risale alla Max Jüdel & Co, fondato nel 1873 come azienda costruttrice di segnali ferroviari. È il più grande sito al mondo per l'automazione ferroviaria e fa parte della divisione Siemens Mobility della Siemens AG. L'operazione si trova in Ackerstraße, sul retro della stazione centrale nel quartiere Viewegs Garten-Bebelhof.
Le ferrovie hanno una lunga tradizione a Braunschweig, poiché qui il 1° dicembre 1838 la Herzoglich Braunschweigische Staatseisenbahn, la prima ferrovia statale in Germania, inaugurò la linea tra Braunschweig e Wolfenbüttel.
