La tranvia di Duisburg rappresenta dal 1881 il backbone del trasporto pubblico locale nella città della Ruhr di Duisburg. Dopo che le tranvie a Duisburg hanno funzionato fino a metà degli anni '60 su una rete a scartamento ridotto a nord del Reno e su una rete a scartamento normale a sud del Reno, oggi tutte le linee sono a scartamento normale. Dalla fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, la rete è in costante riduzione. A metà degli anni '70 è iniziata a Duisburg la costruzione del tunnel per la metropolitana Rhein-Ruhr. Oggi le due linee di tram rimanenti e una linea di metropolitana nel centro utilizzano i tratti sotterranei.
