Il museo è situato dal 1989 nella centrale idroelettrica di Heimbach, che è ancora in funzione. L'edificio in stile liberty, perfettamente conservato, è unico in Europa.
Nella centrale stessa è possibile vedere le vecchie rubinetterie in ottone insieme alle turbine. Nell'edificio adiacente sono esposti dispositivi elettrici risalenti all'inizio del XX secolo. Dallo scaldabiberon all'accendino per sigarette, qui si possono trovare storici elettrodomestici di ogni tipo.
