L'ex-presso dell'arcivescovo e principe elettore di Colonia, il castello di Lechenich, si trova oggi in un semicircolo circondato da parchi nell'angolo nord-est della città vecchia di Lechenich. Il castello d'acqua, protetto da fossati e costruito all'inizio del XIV secolo in mattoni di campo, è stato anche chiamato castello a partire dal XVI secolo. Il castello era uno dei più potenti complessi fortificati della Renania.
Il castello aveva un predecessore a sud-ovest della città, che fu distrutto nel 1301.
