La Stepenitz è un fiume di pianura lungo circa 84 chilometri, caratterizzato da sabbia e argilla, e affluente destro dell'Elba in Brandenburg.
I maggiori affluenti della Stepenitz, il cui bacino idrografico copre circa 1.299 km², sono la Dömnitz, il Schlatbach, il Jeetzbach e la Karthane. Circa 30,8 km² del bacino idrografico si estendono nel sud-ovest del Meclemburgo-Pomerania Anteriore.
