Berliner Bürgerbräu è stata fino alla sua chiusura nel 2010 la più antica birreria della città. Il caratteristico edificio della birreria si trova al Müggelsee nel distretto di Köpenick. Il marchio esiste ancora e appartiene oggi al gruppo Radeberger.
Dal 1753 sono registrati "diritti di boccale" nel sito della birreria a nord del Müggelsee. Con lo sviluppo delle aree lungo la riva da parte del re Federico II, è stata costruita la tenuta di Friedrichshagen insieme all'infrastruttura corrispondente. Dal 1852 le aree della tenuta reale sono state privatizzate. Nel 1869 Hermann Schaefer acquisì i resti della tenuta, inclusi i diritti di birrificazione e macinazione ad essa associati. Questa data è considerata l'anno di fondazione della birreria.
