Nochten, sorabo superiore, è la frazione più settentrionale e più estesa del comune sassone orientale di Boxberg/O.L. nel distretto di Görlitz. Il villaggio di Nochten, situato nella regione mineraria del lignite della Lusazia e nell'area di insediamento soraba, è descritto dal rettore di Weißwasser, Robert Pohl, nel suo libro sulla patria del 1924 del distretto di Rothenburg O.-L. come "un autentico bambino della brughiera".
Il villaggio di Nochten è circondato dalla miniera a cielo aperto di Nochten a nord e ovest e dalla centrale elettrica di Boxberg a sud-ovest. A nord-est della località si trova, su una parte rinaturalizzata della miniera, il parco delle pietre comprese di Nochten.
