Basteibrücke nel 1920. La Bastei è un'attrazione turistica da oltre 200 anni. Nel 1824 fu costruito un ponte di legno per collegare diverse rocce per i visitatori. Questo ponte fu sostituito nel 1851 dall'attuale Basteibrücke in arenaria. Le formazioni rocciose e i panorami hanno ispirato diversi artisti di fama, tra cui Caspar David Friedrich ("Crepaccio Roccioso"). La località termale di Rathen è il principale punto di partenza per visitare la Bastei; la città è raggiungibile da Dresda con il battello a vapore sul fiume Elba.
