Basteibridge im Jahr 1920. Die Bastei ist seit über 200 Jahren eine Touristenattraktion. Im Jahr 1824 wurde eine Holzbrücke gebaut, um mehrere Felsen für die Besucher miteinander zu verbinden. Diese Brücke wurde 1851 durch die heutige Basteibrücke aus Sandstein ersetzt. Die Felsformationen und Ausblicke haben mehrere namhafte Künstler inspiriert, darunter Caspar David Friedrich ("Felsenschlucht"). Der Kurort Rathen ist der Hauptausgangspunkt für einen Besuch der Bastei; die Stadt ist von Dresden aus mit dem Raddampfer auf der Elbe zu erreichen.
