Basteibridge en 1920. Le Bastei est une attraction touristique depuis plus de 200 ans. En 1824, un pont en bois a été construit pour relier plusieurs rochers pour les visiteurs. Ce pont a été remplacé en 1851 par l’actuel pont Bastei en grès. Les formations rocheuses et les panoramas ont inspiré plusieurs artistes de renom, parmi lesquels Caspar David Friedrich (« Felsenschlucht »). La ville thermale de Rathen est la principale base pour visiter les Bastei ; la ville est accessible depuis Dresde en bateau à aubes sur l’Elbe.
