La località termale Nordseebad Dangast si trova alla foce sud-ovest di Jade nel distretto di Friesland ed è parte della città di Varel. Dangast ha 545 abitanti.
Le origini di Dangast risalgono all'undicesimo secolo. Durante la seconda inondazione di Marcellus nel 1362, il primo insediamento di Dangast, che si trovava a qualche centinaio di metri a nord-ovest dell'attuale località, fu distrutto insieme al quartier generale della dinastia dei capi frisoni Wimekinge, da cui proveniva Edo Wiemken il Vecchio. Dopo l'inondazione di Marcellus, Dangast fu ricostruita in un luogo protetto dalle maree, sul versante sud di una cresta geologica risalente all'era glaciale. Grazie a questa posizione, Dangast è oggi uno dei pochi luoghi lungo la costa tedesca del Mare del Nord in cui non è necessario costruire una diga di protezione. La vista "senza diga" che ne risulta è una delle attrazioni principali del luogo.
