È nota la località soprattutto per la scuola Waldorf Evinghausen, che è nata nel 1970 dall'ex scuola del villaggio e comprende asilo, scuola, biblioteca e Johanneshof come istituzione di pedagogia curativa.
La frazione di Uptrup con 42 abitanti è parte di Evinghausen e si trova in mezzo a un raduno del parco naturale del Nord Teutoburger Wald-Wiehengebirge a un'altitudine di circa 250 metri sul livello del mare.
