Il luogo è stato menzionato per la prima volta in un documento nel 1249. Il priore di St. Mauritz a Münster confermò la competenza della parrocchia di Amelsbüren per l'ospedale di San Giovanni situato a Venne. Nel 1255, in un documento del magistrato della città di Münster, viene menzionata la cappella di San Giovanni a Venne. Nello stesso anno, le case situate tra la casa e Venne vengono trasferite a Venne in relazione al battesimo e alla sepoltura. Nel 1290, Venne viene esplicitamente designata come "parochia".
