La Carl Mertens International GmbH è un'azienda dell'industria degli utensili da taglio con sede a Solingen. Produce coltelli da cucina e da cucina di alta qualità, oltre a posate di design e accessori per la cultura della tavola.
Carl Mertens fondò l'azienda nel 1919 a Solingen come una piccola azienda fornitore, dove venivano affilate le lame dei coltelli da tasca e realizzati i manici per i coltelli da tavola e da cucina. Nel 1932 fu avviata una produzione di posate da tavola. Nel 1934 Curt Mertens, il figlio del fondatore dell'azienda, assunse la direzione dell'azienda. Durante la Seconda guerra mondiale, la produzione si interruppe e fu ripresa solo negli anni 1946/47. In questo periodo si svolse anche il graduale trasferimento della produzione dalla Beckmannstraße al Krahenhöher Weg, che fu completato nel 1953.
