Si tratta di un ampio comune rurale situato vicino alla costa. All'interno dei suoi confini si trova il parco naturale di Pagoeta. Integrato nella regione di Urola Costa, si trova a 29 chilometri da San Sebastián. Il territorio comunale è attraversato dall'Autostrada del Cantabrico, dalla strada N-634 tra i pK 14 e 16, dalla strada provinciale GI-2631 che si dirige ad Asteasu, e da una strada locale che comunica con Orio.
