È una delle chiese più antiche di Segovia. Risale alla fine dell’XI secolo e probabilmente fu eretta su una basilica paleocristiana preesistente, conservandone lo spazio originario fino ai nostri giorni. Il nome di San Juan de los Caballeros deriva dalla presenza dei sepolcri che custodiscono le spoglie di esponenti della nobiltà cittadina.
Nel 1905 fu acquistata e restaurata da Daniel Zuloaga, che la destinò ad abitazione e laboratorio di ceramica, per essere poi trasformata in museo della famiglia Zuloaga, con collezioni di ceramica e un archivio documentale. Il complesso attualmente è di proprietà statale. Nello spazio compreso tra la chiesa e le mura di cinta, popolarmente conosciuto come "Los Zuloagas", in estate si svolgono diverse attività culturali.
