Ci troviamo di fronte a uno degli ospedali fondati all'epoca dei Re Cattolici a Malaga ed è uno dei tre più antichi nella sua categoria a livello spagnolo. L'edificio fu costruito nel 1505 da Diego García de Hinestrosa nei terreni che i Monarchi gli regalarono. Hinestrosa era un nobile cavaliere che fondò l'ospedale come istituzione caritativa. Prima del terremoto del 1884, l'edificio era in stile gotico-mudéjar, ma fu necessario demolirlo per ricostruirlo ispirandosi al suo stile costruttivo. Si è conservata la cappella, così come i soffitti a cassettoni e le opere d'arte che custodiva. Si è specializzato nel trattamento delle malattie oculari. È in attesa di aprire come museo cattedrale.
