La battaglia di Puente del Arzobispo fu una battaglia della Guerra di Indipendenza Spagnola avvenuta a Puente del Arzobispo, l'8 agosto 1809 tra Jean-de-Dieu Soult e il generale Gregorio de la Cuesta.
Dopo la disastrosa Convenzione di Sintra, durante la quale fu permessa la ripatrizione delle truppe francesi sconfitte nella battaglia di Vimeiro, le truppe di spedizione britanniche in Spagna e Portogallo furono poste sotto il comando di John Moore. Con l'arrivo di Napoleone con un esercito in Spagna, i francesi entrarono a Madrid il 4 dicembre[1] e Soult ricevette ordini dall'imperatore di inseguire e sconfiggere l'esercito inglese del generale Moore, che doveva reimbarcarsi durante la battaglia coruñese di Elviña.[2]
