Nel tempo questo edificio ha ricevuto il nome Hospital de San Juan de Dios , anche se in realtà dovrebbe essere chiamato Chiesa di San Juan de Dios , poiché la sua funzione storica era quella di fungere da cappella sussidiaria dell'Ospedale della Misericordia.
Ha una pianta a croce greca in un quadrato. E' composta da tre navate con volte a crociera e da un coro a cupola. Appartiene allo stile barocco, anche se le facciate sono neoclassiche.
La torre si trova all'angolo dell'isola, con pilastri ionici e marmo italiano e una guglia a bulbo realizzata da Torcuato Cayón nel 1768.
Le caratteristiche principali dell'interno sono le pale d'altare del XVIII secolo , decorate con rocaille dorate e marmi italiani, come quelle di Sant Rafael, Sant Joan de Déu e Sant Josep , tutte di Torcuato Benjumeda.
