L'ouvrage La Moutière è un'opera minore dell'estensione alpina della Linea Maginot, la Linea Alpina a un'altitudine di 2440 metri. L'ouvrage è composto da un blocco d'ingresso, un blocco di fanteria e un blocco di osservazione, con un blocco di uscita non armato. L'ouvrage supportava l'Ouvrage Restefond sulla cresta del passo, a guardia del suo fianco meridionale. Copriva anche il Col de la Barcelonnette a nord. La posizione è stata costruita tra il 1931 e il 1935.
