Caudry ha una storia simile a quella della città di Gand in Belgio. Anche qui è stata rubata una macchina da tessitura dall'Inghilterra ed è stato l'inizio di un fiorente industria tessile basata su pizzo e tulle. Nel 1913 qui c'erano 650 telai e diverse migliaia di tessitori attivi. Caudry è, insieme a Calais, l'unico posto dove si produce ancora pizzo.
