L'abbazia di Liessies è un'abbazia benedettina, situata a Liessies, nel dipartimento del Nord, in Francia. È stata fondata nel 751, da Wibert, conte di Poitou e cugino di Carlo Magno. Verso la metà dell'VIII secolo, Wibert, conte di Poitou, si rifugiò nel nord delle Gallie, per sfuggire alle persecuzioni di Gaivre, duca d'Aquitania, e Carlo Magno gli concedette allora le terre da Molhain a Vaux-en-Arrouaise. Wibert aveva una dimora a Merlemont vicino a Philippeville. Un giorno, mentre cacciava nella foresta di Fagne, uccidendo un cinghiale, scelse il luogo dove cadde l'animale per costruirvi un'abbazia.
